Professional Floor Sanding Done Properly
Floor sanding is not just about running a machine across timber. When the process is rushed or incorrect equipment is used, visible defects such as chatter marks, drum lines and uneven finishing can permanently affect the floor.
We were recently asked to correct three separate floors — parquet, solid oak and parawood — all previously sanded but left with surface imperfections.
Common Problems We Correct
Across all three floors, the issues were similar:
Heavy chatter marks across the surface
Deep drum lines from inconsistent pressure
Uneven edging
Patchy or poorly applied finish
Timber floors only allow a limited number of safe sanding cycles. This is especially important with parquet blocks and certain hardwoods, where excessive sanding can shorten the lifespan of the floor.
Why Professional Sanding Matters
Different timbers require different sanding techniques.
Parquet needs careful control to avoid flattening the pattern.Solid oak requires consistent pressure and correct grit progression.Parawood (rubberwood) is softer and highlights sanding defects easily under natural light.
Professional sanding involves:
Correct grit sequence
Machine calibration and control
Proper edge blending
Dust-controlled equipment
Selecting the correct finishing system
The preparation stage determines the final result.
The Restoration Process
Each of these floors was carefully re-levelled using professional dust-controlled machinery. We corrected the surface defects, blended edges properly and refinished using a durable system suited to the timber type and room usage.
The result is a clean, even surface with consistent sheen and long-term protection.
Investing in Your Floor
Timber flooring is an investment.Getting it sanded correctly the first time protects both the appearance and lifespan of the wood.
