We recently carried out a full engineered oak floor sanding project in Gainsborough, restoring a worn and tired surface back to a clean, natural finish.

The floor had developed surface scratches and visible wear in high-traffic areas. Although engineered flooring has a thinner wear layer than solid wood, it can often be carefully sanded and restored when assessed correctly.

Assessing the Engineered Floor

Before starting, we inspected the thickness of the engineered wear layer to ensure the floor was suitable for sanding. This step is essential, as over-sanding engineered boards can cause permanent damage if not handled professionally.

The floor was structurally sound, making it a good candidate for restoration rather than replacement.

Dust-Controlled Sanding Process

Using professional dust-controlled sanding equipment, we carefully removed the worn top layer and levelled the surface. Particular attention was paid to the edges and high-traffic areas to achieve a consistent finish throughout the room.

Engineered oak flooring requires a controlled sanding approach to maintain the integrity of the boards while improving overall appearance.

Professional Finishing System

Once sanding was complete, the floor was sealed with a durable professional-grade finish to enhance the natural oak grain and provide long-lasting protection.

The finished result restored warmth and clarity to the engineered oak, completely refreshing the space and improving durability for everyday use.
