Project type

Parquet Floor Sanding & Restoration

The Condition of the Floor

This teak parquet floor in a property in Lincoln had become worn over time, with the original finish breaking down and leaving the timber looking dull and muted. The natural depth of colour within the teak blocks had faded, and the overall appearance of the floor felt tired and uneven.
Before restoration began, the condition of the parquet blocks was carefully assessed to ensure the floor was stable and suitable for professional sanding.

The Sanding Process

Using professional dust-controlled sanding equipment, the existing coating was removed through multiple abrasive stages to restore a clean, level surface. Particular attention was given to maintaining the integrity of the parquet pattern, ensuring the individual blocks remained consistent and even throughout.
Edges and detailed perimeter areas were carefully blended to match the main floor seamlessly.

The Finish Applied

Once fully prepared, a premium hardwax oil finish was applied to enhance the natural warmth and character of the teak. Hardwax oil penetrates into the timber while forming a durable protective layer, allowing the parquet to retain a natural appearance with a balanced, low-sheen finish.
This system provides long-lasting protection while remaining easy to maintain over time.

The Finished Result

The restored teak parquet floor now displays improved clarity, richer tone and a smooth, even surface that highlights the natural grain of the timber. Professional sanding and hardwax oil finishing has revitalised the original flooring, extending its lifespan without the need for replacement.

The Floor Condition

This oak floor in Grimsby had previously been treated with a dark Danish oil, which had built up over time and significantly darkened the natural colour of the wood. The finish had become uneven in places, leaving the floor looking dull and tired.

Sanding & Preparation

To restore the floor properly, a full sanding process was carried out using professional dust-controlled equipment. The old finish was carefully removed using a progressive sanding sequence to bring the timber back to a clean, even surface. Edges and corners were detailed to ensure a consistent finish across the entire floor.

The Finished Result

Once prepared, the floor was finished using a high-quality hardwax oil. This provided a much lighter, more natural appearance while enhancing the grain of the wood and offering durable, long-lasting protection.
