Parquet Floor Sanding & Restoration

The Condition of the Floor

This parquet floor in a residential property in Hull had become worn over time, with the original finish no longer providing adequate protection. Surface scratches, dull areas and signs of general wear had developed, leaving the timber looking tired and uneven.
Before beginning any work, the floor was carefully assessed to determine its condition and ensure the correct sanding approach would be used. Where applicable, special attention was given to factors such as wear layer thickness in engineered boards or the stability of parquet blocks.

The Sanding Process

Using professional dust-controlled sanding equipment, the floor was sanded through multiple abrasive stages to remove the existing finish and surface imperfections. Each stage refines the surface further, ensuring a smooth and even result without unnecessary removal of timber.
Any minor gaps or imperfections were filled using a specialist resin mixed with fine sanding dust collected from the floor itself. This creates a natural, colour-matched finish once sealed.
All work was carried out with precision and care to protect the integrity of the flooring while achieving a consistent surface ready for finishing.

The Finish Applied

Once fully prepared, a premium hardwax oil finish was applied. The selected finish enhances the natural grain and tone of the timber while providing durable, long-lasting protection.
The choice of finish was made based on how the room is used, ensuring the floor not only looks excellent but performs well under everyday wear.

The Finished Result

The completed floor now has a clean, even appearance with improved depth of tone and renewed protection. Restoring the timber has brought warmth and character back into the space, transforming the overall feel of the room.
Professional restoration ensures the floor remains both visually impressive and structurally protected for years to come.

The Floor Condition

This oak floor in Grimsby had previously been treated with a dark Danish oil, which had built up over time and significantly darkened the natural colour of the wood. The finish had become uneven in places, leaving the floor looking dull and tired.

Sanding & Preparation

To restore the floor properly, a full sanding process was carried out using professional dust-controlled equipment. The old finish was carefully removed using a progressive sanding sequence to bring the timber back to a clean, even surface. Edges and corners were detailed to ensure a consistent finish across the entire floor.

The Finished Result

Once prepared, the floor was finished using a high-quality hardwax oil. This provided a much lighter, more natural appearance while enhancing the grain of the wood and offering durable, long-lasting protection.
