Oak Parquet Floor Sanding & Textured Finish – Brigg
Location
Brigg, North Lincolnshire.
Project type
Oak Parquet Floor Sanding & Restoration
The Condition of the Floor
This oak parquet floor in Brigg had gradually lost definition in the grain, with the surface appearing flat and lacking depth. Over time, general wear had softened the natural character of the timber, and the floor required careful restoration to enhance its visual impact without compromising the integrity of the parquet blocks.
Before work began, the condition of the parquet was assessed to ensure it was suitable for a controlled textured sanding process.
The Sanding Process
Using professional dust-controlled sanding equipment, the floor was fully sanded through multiple stages. A specialist textured sanding technique was then applied to subtly remove the softer growth within the oak, creating a natural brushed effect that enhances the grain pattern.
Particular attention was given to maintaining a consistent finish across the parquet layout, with edges and borders carefully blended to match the main floor.
The Finish Applied
Once the textured surface was achieved, the parquet floor was sealed with a durable finishing system selected to protect the enhanced grain while preserving the natural tone of the oak.
The chosen finish provides long-lasting protection while allowing the brushed texture to remain visually defined and practical for everyday use.
The Finished Result
The completed oak parquet floor now has a distinctive, tactile appearance with improved depth and character. The textured finish highlights the natural structure of the timber, creating a floor that feels both traditional and refined.

The Floor Condition
This oak floor in Grimsby had previously been treated with a dark Danish oil, which had built up over time and significantly darkened the natural colour of the wood. The finish had become uneven in places, leaving the floor looking dull and tired.
Sanding & Preparation
To restore the floor properly, a full sanding process was carried out using professional dust-controlled equipment. The old finish was carefully removed using a progressive sanding sequence to bring the timber back to a clean, even surface. Edges and corners were detailed to ensure a consistent finish across the entire floor.
The Finished Result
Once prepared, the floor was finished using a high-quality hardwax oil. This provided a much lighter, more natural appearance while enhancing the grain of the wood and offering durable, long-lasting protection.
