Engineered Wood Floor Sanding & Restoration

The Condition of the Floor

This engineered wood floor in North Lincolnshire had developed visible wear over time, with the original surface coating breaking down and leaving the timber looking dull and uneven. Previous use had left surface marks and inconsistencies that were affecting the overall appearance of the room.
Before work began, the floor was carefully assessed to ensure the engineered wear layer was suitable for sanding and restoration.

The Sanding Process
Using professional dust-controlled sanding equipment, the worn finish was removed through multiple abrasive stages to achieve a smooth, level surface. Particular care was taken to preserve the integrity of the engineered wear layer while correcting surface imperfections.
Edges and perimeter areas were blended seamlessly to ensure a consistent finish across the entire floor.

The Finish Applied
Once fully prepared, the floor was sealed with a durable finish selected to provide long-lasting protection while maintaining a natural, balanced appearance. The chosen system enhances the grain of the timber while offering strong resistance to everyday wear.

The Finished Result
The restored engineered floor now has a clean, even finish with renewed depth of tone and reliable surface protection. Professional sanding and sealing has extended the life of the flooring without the need for costly replacement.

The Floor Condition

This oak floor in Grimsby had previously been treated with a dark Danish oil, which had built up over time and significantly darkened the natural colour of the wood. The finish had become uneven in places, leaving the floor looking dull and tired.

Sanding & Preparation

To restore the floor properly, a full sanding process was carried out using professional dust-controlled equipment. The old finish was carefully removed using a progressive sanding sequence to bring the timber back to a clean, even surface. Edges and corners were detailed to ensure a consistent finish across the entire floor.

The Finished Result

Once prepared, the floor was finished using a high-quality hardwax oil. This provided a much lighter, more natural appearance while enhancing the grain of the wood and offering durable, long-lasting protection.
